‘Best of the Locals’ wine tour
This is the boutique wine tour sampling wines among the vines that you’ve always dreamed of! We’ve planned an epic array of Central Otago’s finest for this full-day tour that will no doubt delight your senses! And to make it better, you’ll be supporting only the region’s finest local winemakers and food artisans!
Four boutique wine tastings:
We’ve gone overboard to secure exclusive access to some of the regions’ best wineries, vineyards and winemakers. You’ll visit, Coxs’ Vineyard, Mondillo, Misha’s Tasting Room and Aurum Wines, which are small boutique wineries that you wouldn’t necessarily find yourself. At each beautiful location, you’ll sample multi-award winning wines and learn directly from the folks who do the hard-yards to make the world’s best Pinot Noir, Rose and Aromatic White Wines.

Amazing picnic lunch hamper full of artisan delights!:
This amazing tour doesn’t stop there – for lunch you’ll tuck into an outstanding gourmet picnic hamper, full of locally sourced and produced delights, including Zamora meats, Gibbston Valley and Whitestone Cheeses, homemade dips, crackers, breads, fruits and nuts. These goodies are assembled from the regions’ best boutique producers, further supporting the Central Otago locals.

Pick-up from your place
We will collect you at 10:00 am and take a 30 minute drive out to Gibbston to the first vineyard of the day.
Newcomers to Gibbston Valley, Simon and Leah have two young children and a beautiful 4ha vinyeard on the Back Road, as its known to the locals. The vineyard’s heritage is outstanding and with a few top awards already under its belt, this winery is one to get to know and watch it rise to stardom. Simon's plans to convert to Organics (along with some good old TLC) is sure to elevate its future harvests even more. Excellent vintages of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir are already available to sample and showcase the region splendidly. With limited cases available these wines will sell out fast!
Drive to Bendigo - 45m to 1h scenic drive.
World-renowned for its beauty, this drive is one of the most spectacular 45 minutes you can spend on a NZ road. The trip sidles through the epic Kawarau Gorge, past snow-capped mountains, raging rivers, picturesque lakes, and country towns. Take in the stunning landscapes of the south while your guide regales you with stories of Central Otago from the past and present.
Dominic and Ally Mondillo were some of the first to plant grapes in the now-famed winegrowing region of Bendigo. They have been producing some of the most consistently good Pinot Noir, Riesling and Rose the region has to offer ever since. Dominic is the winemaker and tends to his own vines, selecting only the best quality grapes to showcase the premium Mondillo label – presumably making Ally’s job selling the wine quite easy, until they run out of wine each year! Dominic will share his award-winning Rose, outstanding Pinot Noir and Riesling for us to taste over lunch.
Gourmet Picnic Lunch from Charlie (enjoyed at Mondillo Wines)
Mondillo has both indoor and outdoor dining options so you can get the best of the view without the winter chills! For lunch, local gal Charlie lovingly prepares beautiful gourmet picnic hampers full of the region's finest delights, including meats from Zamora - The Meat Preachers, Cheeses from Gibbston Valley and Whitestone, home-made dips, seed crackers and breads, along with fresh local fruits and nuts. These can be adapted to suit most dietary requirements, including gluten free. Please let us know if you have any allergies when booking.
Misha's Vineyard Tasting Room
Misha is a lady chasing perfection and accepts nothing less than the best for her wines. Their rugged, 57ha, frost-free vineyard overlooking lake Dunstan was planted in the early 2000s. Under world class winemaker Olly Masters, Misha's produces a full range of aromatic white wines along-side their award winning Pinot Noir. Misha's is rated one of the top 20 wineries in NZ!
Started by Tony and Joan Lawrence over 20 years ago, Aurum Wines embodies the essence of a Central Otago boutique family owned winery. The outstanding wines are now made by the second generation of Lawrences, Lucy and Brook Lawrence (along with their two daughters), and you will not find a family more dedicated to their craft. They produce award-winning Pinot Noir, along with an excellent range of aromatic white wines. With their tasting room situated in a lovely historic cottage, this inter-generational organic estate also produces beautiful olive oil and organic unfiltered honey, the perfect delights to cap off your visit.
Return to your place
After the final tasting of the day, we will return through the beautiful Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown and get you back in time for dinner. We're pretty relaxed about our timing, so if you've got something you need to be back in time for, just let us know.
